One difference from Switzerland: France has no general residence registration requirement like a residents’ registration office – registering your address is not mandatory for the move itself. Customs law, however, sets a clear deadline: French customs requires that removal goods be declared no later than 12 months after relocating your residence, and the items must have been in personal use for at least six months beforehand.
